Herschel Walker is the polar opposite of the president

Granderson: Herschel Walker’s candidacy is more interesting now that Senate control is decided.

That’s because the Democrats have now been able to control the Senate. And Walker was always a pretty good Senate candidate. So, now that the power has shifted, Walker looks like he’s going to be a real player on the national stage. He looks like he’s going to be the candidate of hope and change.

But the Democrats want to lock in Walker so that the media won’t point to him when the next election rolls around. That’s just politics. But it’s not good politics. And the people, many of which have lived through Walker as governor as well as Senator, realize it. And they don’t like it.

But if we can get him to challenge incumbent senators who also voted for the president’s tax plan and his health care reform plan, we’ll be right back where we started. I’m not ready to go there yet.
